Spanking refers to corporal punishment with the bare hand or with aids such as a cane etc.

The term spanking comes from the English (to spank) and originally referred in English-speaking countries to the classic form of educational punishment at school. Today, spanking is primarily understood as a consensual sexual practice between adults that is categorised as sadomasochism.
