Spanish rider

The Spanish rider is a wedge-shaped block of wood on which the bottom is placed with legs spread apart. On some Spanish riders, the pointed edge is also fitted with metal spikes to increase the agony. The bottom's feet do not touch the ground so that his entire weight rests on the pointed edge. Over time, the tortured person feels unspeakable pain. To increase the pain, additional weights are often tied to the bottom's feet.

The Spanish Rider (also known as the Spanish Goat) takes its name from the time of the Inquisition. Back then, the buck was used as an instrument of torture to force out the "truth". Independently of the Spanish Inquisition, the Spanish Goat was also used in faraway Japan and China.
