Infusion of the scrotum

Scrotal infusion, also known as ballooning, is a clinical variant. Sterile, isotonic saline solution is injected into the scrotum (not the testicles!) using a syringe. Depending on the amount, the scrotum ‘swells’ and enlarges. This procedure is widely used and popular in clinics. The swelling lasts for some time, hours to days, as the body needs some time to break down the solution, depending on the amount. Like many other clinical practices, this practice requires expertise and experience on the part of the ‘doctor’, and the risk of dangerous infections must be emphasised.
Instead of saline solution, sterile glucose solution can also be used, which leads to even greater swelling of the scrotum. Men with a corresponding preference find this treatment sexually stimulating.
