Bullwhip

The bullwhip is a long leather whip braided from leather straps, often with a hemp rope at the centre and a thong at the upper end. The bullwhip is the best-known type of whip due to its martial appearance and the classic crack of the whip and, like almost all whips, has its origins in cattle breeding. The bullwhip is available in various lengths up to 5 metres, but mostly in lengths of 5 ft and 10 ft (ft/feet = 30.48 cm). Blows with the bullwhip are very painful for humans and easily lead to skin injuries. The bullwhip is often used as a symbol of dominance in dominance photography and conveys the desired ‘powerful’ impression.
Actual whipping with a whip is dangerous, as the handling of the whip and knowledge of the human body are often inadequate. Blows quickly cause bleeding welts or damage the underlying tissue and organs. Also, the whipping, i.e. the whipping around the body, is often underestimated and ignored. The flying tip develops many times the actual whipping speed and is therefore particularly dangerous. The force, distance and area of impact can only be predicted by an experienced whip-wielder and are therefore not recommended for beginners.
