Vacuum bed
A vacuum bed is usually made of latex or rubber. It resembles a sleeping bag and is only distantly related to a vacuum mattress. It is always made of airtight material so that the air can simply be sucked out. This creates a negative pressure that immobilises the person lying in it. The negative pressure is so strong that the person can usually no longer move.
The most common variant consists of two latex sheets that are stretched over a frame and screwed together. A person can climb between the latex sheets through a zip. The zip can then be closed airtight. There are usually two openings. One to allow air to escape between the mattresses. The person in the bed can breathe through the second opening.
