RACK

RACK stands for Risk Aware Consensual Kink.

The BDSM scene is basically divided into two camps: while the majority accepts the term SSC (safe, sane, consensual) as the self-evident moral basis of BDSM, a minority advocates the somewhat broader concept of RACK.

RACK means risk-conscious, consensual acting out of shared inclinations. In contrast to the established SSC concept, proponents of the RACK concept emphasise that it is difficult to objectively determine which types of sexual play between two people are reasonable according to objective standards. In addition, the RACK concept emphasises the risk aspect: hardly any BDSM variant is likely to be one hundred percent safe, as practically every practice involves more or less significant physical and psychological risks. The RACK concept does not conceal this, while the pretence of pseudo-safety in the SSC concept is its main point of criticism.
