A label is a term that people use to describe their sexuality and/or gender identity. Examples of labels are lesbian, gay, bi+sexual, a_sexual, trans, inter, non-binary and queer. The purpose of labels is to give people a common language with which they can talk about their feelings and experiences with gender and sexuality. Labels are therefore good and useful when people can define them for themselves, but not when they are forced on others involuntarily.
