The sexual orientation is directed exclusively towards people of the same sex.

Homosexuality refers to the sexual orientation in which people feel attracted to their own sex or to the same sex. Homosexual men are referred to as gays, homosexual women as lesbians. Many lesbians and gay men reject the term ‘homosexual’, as the term was primarily used in a medical sense when it was first coined.
