Frigidity
Generally refers to sexual disorders that are characterised by a low desire and/or a low sense of pleasure. This sexual restriction can occur at any age. A woman who has no desire for sex is described as frigid. This is usually caused by hormonal or partnership problems.
Frigidity (from the Latin frigidus cool, cold; historically also sexual coldness) refers to various changes in normal sexual behaviour. The term is outdated as a technical term, but is still popular in colloquial language. Frigidity is characterised by low sexual desire or sensation. It can be a pathological disorder, but often is not.
The term tends to refer to women, but logically this restriction does not make sense, as men can exhibit the same symptoms.
Impairment of sexuality can occur at any age: Reduced libido (sexual reluctance), sexual arousal disorders and orgasmic disorders are among the sexual dysfunctions. Pain during sexual intercourse can also occur.
