Dead name
A dead name is an old first name that was usually given at birth. Deadnames are often hurtful to those affected and should therefore never be used. However, deadnaming can affect anyone who has discarded an old name.
For example, a deadname is often used by people who have undergone gender reassignment surgery. Example: Someone who was born as Peter would certainly not want to be addressed as Peter after their gender reassignment, but as Marie, for example.
