Branding

Branding is the burning of a mark into the skin of people or animals. The term originates from cattle breeding, where a brand was used to identify an animal as property. To do this, an iron is heated in a fire until it glows. The iron is then pressed onto the skin and the mark is permanently branded into the skin.

In long-term BDSM relationships, brandings are sometimes used for labelling. (Bottom Marks). Brandings are created by applying red-hot metal to the skin, i.e. they are real burn marks. The resulting scars form lifelong patterns and marks.

The pain and permanence of the mark make branding an exception rather than the rule. We certainly don't need to go into the dangers here, brandings need to be well considered and are not a party gag... If you want to get branded, you should seek medical advice beforehand and expect to need medical aftercare. Burns must be treated!

Branding involves burning the skin with extreme cold. Liquid nitrogen is used to bring the branding iron to the required temperature. The above also applies here.
